There is only one Hockridge family connected to Burrington, and that is Grenville Hockridge born about 1826 in Hartland, Devon. Grenville was a farmer. He moved to Burrington after his marriage to Mary Buckingham in 1847 and remained in Burrington until after 1871. The farm had various names. High Hayne, High Hayne Barton and Hayne Farm, suggesting the farm was in the hamlet of Hayne Barton, near Burrington. Grenville and Mary had 10 children between 1848 and 1868 all born in Burrington. Sometime between 1881 and 1891 the family moved to Bradworthy, Devon.
