This family information has to be trested with some caution. At present the only evidence I have that the Head of this family is called James is from the son Hugh's marriage, where he says his fathers name is James and mother Mary.

James was born about 1800 in England. He married a girl called Mary. I cannot find a baptism for James or a marriage. The first evidence I have of this family is from the 1851 Census for Canada, which shows Mary as a widow with 9 children. From the place of birth given for the children, the family went to Canada between about 1835 and 1837.

Mary was born about 1811 (1) in England.

I have not found a burial record for James or Mary, the last known place of residence was Wellesley, Waterloo Co, Canada West (Ontario) Son George married in 1872 and stated his parents were deceased.
