John was born 1859 (1) in Kentish Town London. He married Ellen Elizabeth Pulham in 1893 (2) . He gave his name as John Wilson Hawkridge.

Ellen Elizabeth Pulham was born about 1855 (3) in Camberwell, Surrey. (Pulham is probably her married name as she three children before her children with John, Ellen M Pulham born 1873, Maria Pulham born 1874 and Edward Pulham born 1876, - I have not yet found her maiden name)

There is a mystery surrounding John as he used the name Wilson as his surname from about 1881 onwards. He worked as a plumber and he and Ellen had 7 children. Ellen is shown as John's wife from the 1881 Census onwards but they did not marry until 1893 so 5 children were born before their marriage. The list of children below shows the change of use of surname. I have not yet discovered what connection the name Wilson has to the Hawkridge family or why John changed his name.

There are marriages in 1902 Charles Hawkridge Wilson, 1905 John Hawkridge Wilson and 1907 Caroline Hawkridge Wilson (possibly Atheline) suggesting the children also used either the double barrelled Hawkridge-Wilson or just Wilson.
