John was born about 1803 (1) in Cornwall , place unknown. . He married Jane Adams on 24 Feb 1822 (2) in Kilkhampton, Cornwall. From the records it seems the couple combined their marriage with the baptism of their daughter.

Jane Adams was baptised on 23 Apr 1801 (3) in Kilkhampton, Cornwall. Her parents are Hugh Adams and Grace Johns.

John and Jane began married life in Kilkhampton where John worked as a Carrier. They had 13 children. The family moved to Plymouth sometime between 1847 and 1850.

John died 21 March 1850 (4) in East Stonehouse aged about 47 years. His Death Certificate gives his occupation as Cartman and the Cause of Death as - An accidental injury of his body occasioned by a fall out of a wagon. Allan B Bone coroner for Stoke Damerel District of Devonshire, Devonport. Jane died in 1890 (5) in Plymouth aged 91.
