JOHN HOCKRIDGE 1847

 

John was born 2 May 1847 (1) in Tavistock, Devon, the address given on his Birth Certificate is Brook Street, Tavistock. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Snell in 1870.(2)

Betsy Snell was born about 1847 (4) the census gives a confusing account of where she was born but it was probably in Devon.

John and Betsy started married life in Buckfastleigh, Devon, but by 1873 had moved to Durham where they remained. John worked as a Coal Miner. The couple had 7 children. William born 1898 is their grandson but I do not know who his mother is.
