Mary was born on 29 June 1845 (1) in Clovelly. The Census shows she was living with her parents until 1861. In 1868 Mary had an illegitimate son.

Mary died on 16 Mar 1868 (2) just a few weeks after Charles was born, she was 22 years old. Her death certificate indicated she died from some kind of liver failure. It also confirms that she was in Bideford not Clovelly. Present at her death was Eliza Hamlyn of Silver Street, Bideford.
