Thomas was born about 1827 (1) in Plymouth, Devon. He married Mary Stitson on 8 Nov 1847 (2) in the Parish Church, Stoke Damerel, Devon. Thomas's occupation was Mason, address 14 Tavistock Street, Stoke, father William Hockridge Mason. Marys address was given as 8 James Street, father Richard Stitson, Mason. Witnesses to the marriage were William Symons and Grace Alger.

Mary Curry Stitson was baptised on 15 Jan 1826 (3) in Wembury, Devon. Her parents are Richard Stitson and Mary Curry.

Thomas and Mary began married life in Plymouth living with Mary's mother Mary Stitson. Thomas was working as a Mason. The couple had 6 children. Thomas went to Australia in 1857 aboard the Blackwall, with his parents William Hockridge and Ann, leaving Mary and the children in Plymouth. As far as I can tell Thomas did not return to England, Mary went to Australia some twenty years later in 1877 with her daughters Emily and Sarah. Thomas and Mary are buried together so the family was reunited.

Thomas and Mary are buried beside each other in West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia. Thomas died 27 Jan 1913 aged 85, he was buried on 28 Jan. Mary died 4 Aug 1916 aged 90, she was buried on 6 Aug. Also buried with Thomas is his grand-daughter Jessie Hockridge aged 2 who died 28 October 1880. (5)
