Thomas was born about 1754 in Welcombe, Devon. He married Damaris Burrow on 20 October 1781 (1) in Morwenstow, Cornwall. Witnesses to the marriage were Jos Burrow and Thomas Clift. I have not found Thomas's parents so his year of birth is taken from the age given at the time of his death. The Parish Records for Welcombe do not survive for the time of Thomas's birth.

Damaris Burrow was baptised on 12 May 1761 (2) in Morwenstow, Cornwall. Her parents are Joseph and Mary Burrow.

Thomas and Damaris had 4 children.

Thomas died on 14 Jun 1823 and was buried on 18 Jun 1823, aged 70 years. Damaris died on 30 Jan 1836 and was buried on 3 Feb 1836, aged 75 years.

Thomas is buried in Clovelly Churchyard Sacred to the Memory of - Thomas Hockridge- Late of Eastacott in this parish - He was called into Eternity - 14 Jun 1823 Aged 70 years

Damaris is buried in Clovelly Churchyard Sacred to the Memory of - DAMARIS - wife of the Aforesaid Tho's Hockridge of this parish - who died Jan 30th 1836 - Aged 75 years - Death who Dissolved our knot we being dead - Hath made our grave the second marriage bed - Of Death we therefore need not complain - For whom it parted it hath joined again - Now here we sleep together free from strife - In hopes to wake to everlasting life.
