Thomas was born 6 Jul 1880 (1) in Norwood, South Australia. He married twice. His first marriage was to Sarah Ann Bowering on 26 Apr 1905 (3) in the Methodist Church, Wallaroo, Australia.

Sarah Ann Bowering was born 25 May 1881 (4) in Wallaroo, Australia. Her parents are Jonathan Bowering and Amelia Thorn.

Thomas worked as a butcher and with his brother Sidney ran a Grocery & Drapery business started by his father Thomas Hockridge. Thomas and Sarah had two children.

Sarah died 9 Apr 1938 aged 56 (1) and was buried on 14 Apr 1938 in Magill Cemetery.

After Sarah's death Thomas married Phyllis Gwen May. Thomas died on 19 Nov 1944 (2) in Parkside and was buried 21 Nov 1944 in Magill Cemetery. Phyllis was born 16 June 1920 (2) and died 6 May 1949 aged 28 she was also buried in Magill Cemetery on 7 May 1949.
