WILLIAM CHICHESTER HOCKRIDGE 1838

 

William was baptised on 28 Apr 1838 (1) in Kilkhampton, Cornwall. He went to Canada sometime after 1851, where he married Jane Kirkland on 19 Apr 1876 (2) in Orono, Northumberland & Durham Co, Ontario. Witnesses were Joseph Kirkland & Elizabeth Kirkland, Orono.

Jane Kirkland was born about 1853 (3) , Her parents are David Kirkland and Mary Maham or Makham.

William worked as a Carriage Maker and then a Carpenter. He and Jane had three children born in Orono but by 1901 he and Jane were living in Cobourg.

William died 10 Jun 1914 (5) aged 76 years. His Occupation was given as Carpenter. He died of Heart Disease and the informant of his death was Mrs Hockridge, Cobourg, Ontario.

After Williams death Jane moved to Michigan to be with her son Chichester Granville Hockridge. Border Crossings from Canada to US 1895 - 1956 show the following entry. Arriving Oct 1921.
