William and Elizabeth had a son who died, and Elizabeth herself died in 1845 and was buried in Clovelly on 21 Aug 1845 (4) - aged 29, her abode was given as Burnston.

William married Mary Burden on 27 February 1847, in Clovelly. William widower, Labourer of Burford, Father William Hockridge. Mary Spinster, servant of Burford, Father William Burden. Both made their mark. Witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Cook and John Dunsell. (5)

Mary Burden was baptised on 26 May 1823 (1) in Independent Church, Hartland, Devon. Her parents are William Burden and Emily Burman.

Mary already had a daughter before her marriage to William, Mary Ann Burden born about 1842 (3) in Woolfardisworthy. William and Mary remained in Clovelly where they had a further 4 children.
